Protect your timeline with expert site work from Schaffer Outdoor Services LLC today.
We prepare your property safely and efficiently for grading, drainage, patios, retaining walls, and other outdoor projects.
We start with an on-site visit to review grades, drainage, access, soil conditions, and the full scope of work. Then we mark the work area, discuss goals, outline realistic timelines, and provide a clear estimate so you know exactly what to expect before we dig.
Once scheduled, we complete utility-safe excavation with the right equipment for your property and project size. We carefully excavate, rough grade, and manage spoils while protecting nearby lawns, hardscapes, and structures to keep the job clean and controlled.
After excavation, we fine-tune the grade, confirm the site is ready for the next phase, and remove excess material as needed. We finish with a walkthrough to answer questions, review the completed work, and make sure you feel confident moving forward.
At Schaffer Outdoor Services LLC, excavation is one of those services where experience matters. When the digging is not done right, everything built on top of it can have problems later. We handle excavation work with careful planning, the right equipment, and a clear focus on safety, drainage, and long-term stability. Whether you need site preparation for a new project or grading work to fix problem areas on your property, we provide practical solutions that are built to last.
We offer excavation services for both residential and light commercial projects. That includes digging, grading, leveling, trenching, and earthmoving for a wide range of outdoor improvements. Many customers call us when they are starting a new patio, retaining wall, driveway, drainage system, utility line installation, or other landscape construction project. We also help with clearing and reshaping land so it is ready for the next phase of work.
Every property is different, so we start by looking at the layout, soil conditions, access, elevation changes, and water flow. From there, we create a plan for the excavation work that fits the project and the site. Our excavation services may include:
Our goal is not just to move dirt. We make sure the area is excavated to the proper depth, slope, and grade so the finished project performs the way it should.
Excavation is the groundwork for many outdoor projects. If the base is uneven, too shallow, poorly compacted, or graded the wrong way, you can end up with drainage issues, settling, erosion, standing water, or premature damage. We pay close attention to the details that protect your investment. That includes stable subgrade preparation, proper slope control, and clean, organized site work.
For example, a patio or walkway needs the right excavation depth to allow for base material and final surface height. A drainage project needs trenching with consistent slope so water actually moves where it is supposed to go. A retaining wall project needs proper excavation to support the wall base and reduce pressure from poor drainage. These are the kinds of details we focus on from the start.
One of the most common reasons customers call us is water trouble. If water sits in the yard, runs toward the house, washes out mulch beds, or creates muddy spots, excavation and grading can often help solve the issue. We can reshape problem areas, create swales, trench for drain pipe, and improve slope so water flows away more effectively. Good drainage work can help protect your landscaping, hardscaping, and even your home’s foundation.
When we look at drainage concerns, we do not guess. We study how the water currently moves across the property and identify where the grade needs to change. Then we recommend a practical solution based on the terrain and the surrounding features.
We believe customers should know what to expect. Our excavation process is straightforward and organized:
Throughout the job, we work carefully and communicate clearly so you understand the progress and any important site conditions we find along the way.
Excavation takes the right machines and the right operator. We use professional equipment suited to the size and needs of the project, which helps us work efficiently while keeping the site as controlled as possible. We also pay attention to access, surrounding structures, existing landscaping, and ground conditions. On many jobs, protecting the parts of your property outside the work zone is just as important as the excavation itself.
We know that excavation can look disruptive in the middle of the process, but our team works hard to keep jobs organized, safe, and moving forward. We believe clean site management is part of good service.
Excavation is often the first step in a larger outdoor improvement. We regularly perform excavation work for projects such as:
If you are planning an outdoor project and are not sure whether excavation is needed, we are happy to talk it through with you. In many cases, proper site prep makes the difference between a project that lasts and one that develops issues too soon.

In many cases, yes. Proper excavation is often the first step to a long-lasting outdoor project. Without the right base, grading, and soil preparation, you can run into problems like standing water, shifting, settling, or early wear. We make sure the ground is prepared the right way so the finished project has a solid foundation.
Excavation pricing depends on the size of the area, soil conditions, access to the site, how much material needs to be moved, and the type of work involved. Some jobs are straightforward, while others take more time and equipment. We provide clear estimates so you understand the scope of work and what is included before we begin.
The best way to get started is to contact us for a consultation or estimate. We will talk through your project, look at the site, and recommend the right excavation approach for your property and goals. If you want dependable excavation work done by a team that values clear communication and quality results, give Schaffer Outdoor Services LLC a call today.
